Several attempts have been made by Microsoft to be more indisputable with the privacy settings. You may find that it has simplified many of its policies, a lot more is there to be accomplished. Some of the privacy-related settings are being shown below that you can change for a more secure experience of Windows 10.
  1. Say No to syncing
So much of synchronizing has been done in Windows 10. Logging in through a Microsoft account, including the password may get synchronized with various devices you log in with a similar account. Turning off the syncing will prevent your device from syncing in with other devices whenever you sing in. You just need to enter passwords manually. If you want to turn off the syncing, just head over to the Settings>Accounts>Sync Your Settings. It is up to you if you’re going to turn all syncing off at once, you also can toggle off specific sync settings.
  • Get a local account
If the syncing has been disabled across devices, then why would anyone use Microsoft account for logging into your PC? Users may opt for a local account that doesn’t need an email that can restrict Microsoft from generating information about you. Users can simply generate a username and password for the system and you are done. You may still require Microsoft account for purchasing apps from Windows Store. For creating a local account, just head over to Settings>Accounts>Your information, tap log in with a regular account and go through the instructions to make a username, password and hint of the password.
  • Lock Down the lock screen
Whenever anyone opens your gadget, the lock screen is probably the very first thing anyone sees. This screen contains a lot of information that you want to keep confidential. Three things are there that are needed to lock down. Ensure that the notifications are not visible on the lock screen. Simply head over to Settings>System>Notifications and action and switch off show notifications on the lock screen. The only con of turning this feature off is that you won’t be able to see any of the notification till you unlock the device.
  • Turn off Cortana
You can turn off Cortana on the lock screen, just go to Settings>Cortana>Talk to Cortana and switch off Use Cortana even if the device is locked. The only con associated with it is that you won’t be able to use Cortana on a locked device. It is up to you if you want to limit her scope on the lock screen.
  • Turn the advertising ID off
Each of the Microsoft accounts has a unique advertising ID that allows the company to gather information about you and give a personalized ad experience across various platforms. If you sign in Windows 10 with Microsoft account, then those ads will follow you onto the system. Just turn off the ads.
